Carntogher Country Market

Carntogher Country Market is held on a monthly basis at An Carn Community Centre and provides a unique shopping experience where you can choose from a tempting selection of foods which has been baked in local country kitchens. There will be cakes, sodas, wheaten, savouries, jams etc. An array of hand crafted articles can also be bought. These are individually produced by local crafts people in their homes ensuring originality and uniqueness. Dúlra Biodiversity Project

The Dúlra Biodiversity Project is a three year programme seeking to conserve and enhance the natural environment of the Carntogher area west of Maghera, Co Derry. It is a powerful tool for promoting interaction between local people and their environment and expanding environmental education opportunities locally. The project began in March 2004 and will be completed in February 2007, and is funded by the Rural Development Council through the Building Sustainable Prosperity Programme, Environment and Heritage Service and Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. Óige - Club Iarscoile/Eachtra

Club Iarscoile is an after-schools club for children at the bunscoil while Club Eachtra is a pilot programme aimed at pupils who attended the bunscoil and are now in secondary school education. Carntogher Launches ‘Green’ Tourism Initiative

Carntogher Community Association have completed a major tourism infrastructure upgrade for the Maghera area. Among a long list of actions including countryside access, a disabled pathway and new ponds at Drumnaph Wood, a history trail and a new brochure and DVD which have been developed to promote environmentally friendly tourism, the group have created a new walking trail from Tirkane to Ballyknock around the beautiful Seefin Hill and Pollan River.
