Heritage Studies at An Carn

by Claire Doherty last modified 2007-02-07 23:59

Local Heritage and Landscape Studies October 2005 – March 2006

A practical course adapted to suit those with little detailed knowledge who want a good general knowledge of local culture and environment and most importantly need the skills to be able to share this knowledge with others.

The course is being delivered ‘in the field’ by tutor Pauline McDermott, making use of the wealth of natural habitats, local history and archaeological sites around the Carntogher area of Maghera to explain the following topics:

  • Flora and fauna
  • History and culture
  • Archaeology
  • Geology

The course is aimed at members of the public who want to know about their environment, local hillwalkers, teachers, heritage guides and workers in the tourism industry.

The course is free to Carntogher Volunteers and anyone interested in becoming a volunteer should contact Declan/Claire
