Coláiste Charn Tóchair
Féile Charn Tóchair kicked off last week with the first week of the Carn Tóchair Irish College. The College is aimed at the young Gaeilgeoirí of the South Derry area. CCT was set up to provide local children with opportunities to use their Gaeilge out of the classroom.

Due to ongoing renovations at An Carn, this year's college is based
in the gaelic grounds of Sleacht Néill. The students have come from
far and near, the locals from Machaire Rátha, an tSuaitreach and
Sleacht Néill. Others have travelled from Baile na Scríne, Dún Geimhin
and one student, Clár Ní Dhornáin has braved the distance from Tír
Eoghain!!
The young students experience a wide range of
activities daily. Last week, some of them made finger puppets,
designed their own t-shirts, learned traditional songs and dances.
They have partipated in language and board games and of course in a
wide variety of sports. Cúrsa B is happening now. The college runs
from 10 - 3. If you enjoy the Gaeilge, come and be apart of it! Bígí
linn.
Pictured bellow are students and staff from Cúrsa A. Our
thanks to the co-ordinator of Cúrsa A, Carla McGrogan and her
experienced teaching staff, Catherine Kelly, Edel Quinn, Marion McKenna
and Vera Feeney. The energetic and competent ceannairí of Cúrsa A were
Frankie Ó Ceallaigh, Sorcha Ní Dhoibhilin, Ciara de Glas, Cathaoir Ó
Caisaide, Liam Ó FLannagáin agus Aoife Ní Chaiside.
We would
like to thank our funders, Foras na Gaeilge, for their help to make
Coláiste Charn Tóchair a resounding success. We would also like to say
'go raibh míle maith agat' to the committee of Sleacht Néill CLG for
making their fantastic facilities available to us.
Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí.
Féile Charn Tóchair also continues this week with Siúlóid Oidhreachta Heritage Walk, Tóraíocht Taisce Treasure Hunt and the traditional music band ‘Tannasg’ on Saturday night.
