Irish-Language
Carntogher is a bilingual community with a young, growing and vibrant Irish-speaking community. It is the only community in Ireland outside the Gaeltacht where the majority of Primary School children receive their education through the medium of Irish. The Associaiton has ambitionus plans for the restoration of the Carntogher Area as a modern, 21st Century Gaeltacht.
Feis Charn Tóchair 2011
Feis Charn Tóchair 2011 – A celebration of the Irish Language and Culture Feis Charn Tóchair returns again this year and will take place on Saturday 11th June. The aims of Feis Charn Tóchair are to promote and celebrate the revival of the Irish language and culture in County Derry. There will be a variety of sections in the feis which will be suitable for a wide range of age groups, for both fluent Irish speakers and basic learners. The Feis Competitions, including an award ceremony for the Art and Writing competitions will take place in An Carn, (Tirkane Road, Maghera) on Saturday 11th June.

Daidí na Nollag Opens New Naíscoil Adventure Playground
Daidí na Nollag (Santa) took time out of his very busy schedule this year to attend the opening of the new Digger Adventure Playground at Naíscoil Charn Tóchair on Sunday 12th December. He arrived by sleigh and was greeted by over 80 excited children, who were all on their best behavior. After cutting the ribbon to officially open the new playground, Daidí na Nollag couldn’t resist having a go on the big slide himself!
Irish Language Short Course at An Carn
An Carn will host its annual adult Irish language short course again this year on Saturday 4th September from 10:00am to 4:00 pm. The tutors this year, Neil Comer, Pól Mac Giolla Eoin and Seán Fearron, will provide beginner, intermediate and advanced classes.

A Garden Party with the President
A youth group from Maghera had a very special opportunity recently. Six young people and two leaders met President Mary Mc Aleese and her husband Dr. Máirtín Mc Aleese in the Áras in Dublin on Saturday 10th July, 2010.

The Cumann Gaelach organises a range of activities and events to raise the profile of the language locally and to provide opportunities for learners and fluent speakers to use their Irish.
Feis Charn Tóchair
Feis Charn Tóchair aims to to promote and celebrate the revival of the Irish language and culture in County Derry. There are a wide variety of competitions suitable for both fluent Irish speakers and basic learners.
Public Speaking and Debating Competitions
As part of Féis Charn Tóchair there will be Debating and a Public Speaking competitions as Gaeilge for local secondary schools.
ÓgÓgras Trip to Carlingford
Óg-Ógras Luraigh, our Irish medium youth club, had a fantastic day recently at Carlingford Adventure Centre in county Louth.
Coláiste Charn Tóchair 2011
Over 100 children recently attended the annual Coláiste Charn Tóchair (Carn Tóchair College) during the Carn Tóchair 2011 summer festival, Féile Charn Tóchair.
