ÓgÓgras trip to the Odyssey Arena
The ÓgÓgras Luraigh youth group went on a trip to the Odyssey in Belfast on Saturday 28 November.
They met there other branches of ÓgÓgras from places all over Ulster and Leinster who were also on tour. There were in all over 200 young Irish speakers present. Everyone had a great day in the bowling hall, in Hungry Joe’s cafe, and during the afternoon as they learnt through fun about science in W5.
ÓgÓgras is an all Ireland organization for children between 8 and 12 years of age who have fluent Irish. The local branch, ÓgÓgras Luraigh, is attended by children from areas all around Carn Tóchair, including Sleacht Néill, Machaire Rátha, Baile na Scríne. Social events are organized for these young Gaels which gives them the opportunity to speak their own language in an enjoyable environment outside of the classroom.
