Revamped Club Eachtra up and running
Club Eachtra, the adventure club for young Irish speakers of secondary school age, is back and judging by the response it's here to stay.
Club Eachtra is back again thanks to funding given by Foras na Gaeilge for two youth development officers. The club hopes not only to attract former Bunscoil pupils but also pupils who are studying Irish in Sixth Form in local schools.
The young people themselves will be involved in organizing activities, managing a web-site and establishing contact with other Irish speaking youth clubs in the Gaeltacht or elsewhere. At a meeting in Carntogher a dozen local young people came and expressed their enthusiasm for the new project.
An outing has already been planned for Saturday 4th February to the Brunswick Superbowl in Derry and it is hoped that it will be the first of many similar outings.
